Great Western Malting Trainee Program

Each year we take on one or two graduate production trainees. The program runs for 24 months and provides a wide range of experiences within the production environment across our malting sites alongside a structured training program. Trainees will be given responsibility from day one and get an insight into many aspects of the business including experiences in different locations. You will spend around 6 months at each location while you learn the art of making high quality malt.

The program is for recent graduates who are looking for a career in the malting industry with our preference being for graduates with a degree in agriculture, engineering, or a science subject.

Business Analyst IT

Position Scope:

The company is looking for a Business Analyst with a passion for delivering value through technology. Reporting directly to the IT Manager, this position will work closely with both the business and IT to implement new systems and process, and assist in leveraging the existing business systems to drive functional improvements and identify areas for process development within the Country Malt Group Business Unit.

Responsibilities:

Credits & RMA Coordinator

Position Scope:

Reporting to the CMGBC Director of Operations, this position provides essential support to Country Malt Group and Brewcraft customers when claims are submitted. This role processes all claims for both internal and external customers from start to finish while providing the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Efficient operating of equipment while following established procedures
  • Learn all aspects of our Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures including our Zero Harm program.
  • Ensuring that all safety rules and procedures are understood and followed by self and co-workers; including wearing of all required PPE in various situations including: goggles, dust mask, gloves, steel toed boots, rain gear, hearing protection, hard hat, and full face respirator.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating complex manufacturing process equipment is desired.
  • Critical reasoning skills, ability to read, write, perform math calculations on a high school level.
  • Must be self-motivated, with an ability to troubleshoot issues and determine appropriate resolution and develop sense of ownership of processes.
  • Above average verbal communication skills are required, plus willingness to work in a team environment with peers in various departments and trades.

  • Operates a large diversity of hand and power tools associated with the repair of heavy duty plant equipment. This would include open end and adjustable wrenches, punches, hammers, pry bars, grinders, drills, chisels, taps, dies, bearing pullers, hydraulic presses, mills, files, welders, chop saws, calipers, screw drivers, auls, breaks, impact tools, snatch blocks, come alongs, chain falls, band saws, blast cabinets, dial-gauge indicators, lubrication equipment, etc. 
 

 

Experience:

 

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulics with ability to take voltage, amperage, OHM, pressure and/or flow reading in accordance with ladder and schematic diagrams and determine values.
  • Ability to be certified to operate forklifts, scissors lifts, and hoists is required.
  • Have an understanding of instrumentation and calibration principles.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to general safety procedures in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to make effective, quick decisions while following company policies.
  • Must have an analytical disposition, along with a willingness to adapt to and lead change.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, contributing to a positive team spirit.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC systems and communication networks is preferred. Programming is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs, push/pull 75 lbs.
  • Standing and walking - three hours continuously and up to eight hours per day.
  • Safely operate a wide range of heavy, awkward, or complicated tools and equipment. This would require the worker to occasionally lift a maximum of 40 lbs. to above waist level. Continuous lifting of 10-25 lbs. is also occasionally required, (for shoveling grain or the replacement of filter bags for example).
  • Pushing and pulling with forces up to 100lbs is required every one to two days.
  • Torque forces of 20-35 lbs. frequently required for tightening large bolted assemblies.
  • Reaching overhead and working in twisted, awkward positions is frequently required in order to access and adjust equipment in place.
  • Reaching overhead is required for several minutes at a time when working on equipment from work platforms and catwalks.
  • Climbing of ladders and structural supports is required several times per day.
  • Bending, kneeling, and squatting are required, for brief periods, several times per day. Weights do not generally exceed 10-25 lbs. when performing these functions.
  • Sitting is rarely required.

 

 

 

 


 
 
  • Washington 07 license is required.

  • 4 years of relevant job experience
  • Experience or education in brewing/malting industry is a huge plus

Responsibilities:

Position may include a variety of the following: 

  • Properly producing and handling products in an efficient and value added manner for storage or immediate use according to a range of processing criteria; while observing pertinent HACCP, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Accurate and timely order completion daily to include: order picking, wrapping, loading
  • Shipping/Receiving
  • Light sanitation
  • Operating automated production equipment
  • Operating forklift
  • Inventory control
  • Adheres to all safety rules and regulation at all times

Experience:
