Great Western Malting (GWM) is now malting with 100% renewable electricity to reduce its carbon footprint.
In 2020, GWM partnered with Clark Public Utilities to offset carbon-based electrical energy usage through purchasing certified Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)
Clark Public Utilities Sources RECs from locally generated renewable energy obtained from wind and solar projects in the Western Energy Interconnect.
The quantity of renewable electricity represented by the RECs supplied to Great Western Malting for its malting facilities in Vancouver, WA, and Pocatello, ID has amounted to around 37,529 MWh (megawatts), offsetting 6,025 Metric Tonnes of Carbon Dioxide annually.
